(6,168 posts)for years, we were told to "vote," that was our biggest voice and action we could take. Millions of us didn't need those words... we'd had them ingrained in us by our WWII vet parents, by grandparents and parents who lived through the Great Depression. We voted like there was no tomorrow (because the DNC kept telling us there wouldn't be one!).
And then, even knowing... or at least having an inkling... of all or some of the cheating that was going on regarding electoral laws and politics, the PTB just kept telling us to get out the vote. And when it didn't go our way, many of us felt they were laying it our feet for not trying hard enough. When from the highest to the lowest of the in Power, failed us. Merrick Garland failed us the worst, IMO. But Biden also bears some of the guilt. Although he made it a point to assuage us with a committee for judicial reforms, he blew recommendations off and disbanded the committee without doing anything. I loved me some Dark Brandon... he just didn't come out often enough.
What could we... common, ordinary people... do beyond voting, writing letters... it's all what I call "passive" stuff. But unless you're going to go full Tibetan monk and set yourself ablaze in front of the WH, what CAN you do? I hear the frustration in your voice, because I hear it in my every day and every night. WHAT can I do that will make an impact on a large enough number of people that it will change their minds, hearts, and attitudes? I keep coming up with nothing. And boy, is it frustrating!
