What system are you on?

I vaguely recall shortcuts similar to "hit this key three times" ... not "knock three times" .... to kick in some magic assistive whatever.

Only other imaginable thing(s) might be
Browser is slow and you are overrunning its text buffer (wild guess)
You have some extension installed, like an "abbreviation" one
You just have some bogus extension installed.
That said, I load up on them and never saw such.

Can you try another browser? I sometimes switch between safari and Firefox (I ditched Opera when all my settings disappeared after an "auto update" ) The auto-pager extension works on Firefox, and there are times that it saves be hours (OK, many minutes)

That should eliminate the browser as an issue.
