3. I am not chiming in on this new charge, but I think your framing of the old charge misses a bit.

Yes. What he did to his kid was horrible. He got counseling for it. I think what the court/NFL missed with that one was the opportunity to have him be a speaker to change the way people see/saw child punishment. The texts to his wife indicate that he thought (remember; I agree what he did was horrible) it wasn't as bad because he didn't use an extension cord like his dad did. He is clearly a product of severe child abuse and thought he was working toward breaking that cycle. Was he breaking it? No. But he seemed to be trying.

Plus there were a lot of articles at the time about the demands of disciplining a child of color vs a white child that I could find if you want.

If this new charge is true (which I have no reason to believe it isn't), then I have nothing other than it isn't surprising from the child of an abusive parent.
