2. In light of hard winter they suffered

During the first winter, 4 whole families were wiped out by a lack of food, weather and illness but thanks to their alliance with the Wampanoag they were able to celebrate. Remember that Thanksgiving was actually the SECOND harvest following their treaty setup by Samoset and Squanto with the native tribe in the patuxet region.
