4. My buddy has been living with non-alcoholic cirrhosis for years. He's doing great.

His obesity was deemed to be the main factor, but he made drastic diet changes and has turned to exercising regularly (even ran a couple of marathons), and lost in excess of 100 lbs. He's also participating in some clinical trials to reduce the scarring of his liver, though I'm not sure how that is going. Still, it's not a death sentence, by any means.
