1. Go to Program Files in C: drive (or Program Files x86) and find the folder of the program in question.

2. Open the folder and look for the '.exe' file for the program

3. RIGHT click on the '.exe' file and select Properties (at the bottom), then the Compatibility tab

4. Now you can either click on 'Run Compatibility Troubleshooter' or

5. Tick the next box down (Compatibility Mode) and select Windows 7.

6. Probably no need to change any of the lower settings except maybe 'Run this program as Administrator' and/or 'Change settings for all users'.

7. Click Apply and close.

No guarantees that this will work, but it may just solve your problems.
