Brainfart signs bill prohibiting state funds from being invested in companies boycotting Israel [View all]

Our illustrious Governor in action once again;

Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad has signed a bill into law that prohibits state funds from being invested in businesses that boycott Israel.

Branstad signed the bill Tuesday alongside legislative leaders from both chambers of the Legislature.

The law responds to an international boycott movement against Israel that Palestinians say is aimed at ending Israeli occupation. Critics say the movement is discriminatory. Iowa joins a handful of states that have passed legislation in support of Israel.

It's unclear what financial impact the law will have on Iowa, but Branstad says the measure is "the right thing to do."
