...I had helped a friend-girl move from Pittsburgh back home to Boston and she wanted me to stay with her for a few days before I headed back to Pennsylvania, where I was living at the time. We were on our way downtown to see "Goodfellas" and passed a newspaper stand where I caught sight of a headline about SRV's plane crash. Stunningly sad news, especially considering the fact that I had worked backstage security at several of Stevie's concerts and knew him to be not only a stellar musician but a genuinely nice guy as well.
Rest in peace, Stevie; thanks for the music and the memories...
