I might have posted this before, I can't remember.
I'm going completely from memory here...I think the year was 1989. This happened at one of two places, I can't remember which.
It was either at a concert at an amusement park in upstate New York (famous park, the name slips my mind), or it was down in Bucks County Pennsylvania ( near New Hope).
My then girlfriend and I booked a weekend getaway. We reserved a room at an EconoLodge. We checked in, and walked into the room. There were two huge bugs on the bathroom floor, probably roaches. One dead, one slightly alive.
I said to my girlfriend "we're not staying here". We drove down the street about a mile to another hotel, and as luck would have it, they had rooms available. So I booked a room there.
We went back to the original hotel and walked into the office. The guy behind the desk was a foreigner and spoke broken English.
Me: We're not staying here. Please credit my credit card. We're leaving.
Him: Why?
Me: There's bugs in the room.
Him: No bug.
Me: Yes, bug
Him: No bug
Me: Yes, bug
Him: He handed me a piece of paper and a marker, and said "draw the bug".
Me: What?
Him angrily: DRAW THE BUG!!
So I drew something like the below, slapped the paper on the counter, and said: BUG!
He looked at the drawing for a moment, said "OK", credited my credit card for the charges, and we went to the other hotel.
