Xi should be in no hurry. Trump's catastrophic mismanagement of the economy and sabotage of American universities and research institutions will rapidly demote the United States from its current status as one of two economic superpowers and the world's preeminent military power. The damage already done by Doge, MAGA, and Trump is probably irreversible and our decline will only accelerate for years to come.
