1966. Highly recommended. You'll probably cry. It was on TCM on demand, but it's been removed. It's on Prime. Living Free is the 1974 sequel. It was enjoyable.

(53,373 posts)Some things don't change. My disposition is prone to this reaction when I see animals being hurt. A few years after Born Free I was even more upset when we watched a nature show where wild packs of female animals were mean to another female who just lost her litter and were attacking her. Just awful!!! No more nature shows for me in this lifetime. Even Dodo videos makes me cry and they usually have happy endings to their animal stories.

(15,763 posts)The ending is uplifting, but the Adonsons were both murdered 9 years apart. That makes me sad.

(16,668 posts)The Andy Wlliams version did well in the charts. That's the one I remember best.

(8,387 posts)Do they also have one for unoriginal songs?
The song must have been written specifically for the movie. Apparently, even songs adapted from plays aren't eligible.
