Related: About this forumI'm not religious, but I gotta give it up to Pastor Jamaal Bryant - Calling out those pastors that sold out to Target
I'm also a bit worried for him, he's been targeted since he's been calling out trump, and all the companies bending knee.
It is a breath of fresh air though to see the black church pick up the mantle again for Civil Rights instead of preaching " prosperity gospel"

(7,638 posts)to influence people to return to Target. She has always been social media savvy. So I am pretty sure she knew there was a boycott.
Yet she makes a video shopping in Target. Really?
Girl, bye!
I doubt that you shop in Target on any regular day, but during the boycott you film yourself shopping in Target and post to your millions of followers?
He's not wrong, Target is trying to undermine the boycott by going to people like her and other influencers and these other cowardly black churches.

(35,622 posts)That started the Boycott and it has been extended to WalMart and Amazon.
Our Dollars make a MASSIVE difference. We who can afford to and who have options make up for those Black women in food deserts or places where their ONLY option for Affordable Necessities is one of these three store fronts.
Expand it out to include those two IF you can.
If you can't - I've got your back. I have farmers markets, a local farm that I can buy meet/poultry from, a local fish market, etc. etc. I'll pay a little more so you don't have to.

It is a grassroots movement by Black Women where we committed to this immediately. My greatest fear is that if people perceive it is NOT grassroots Consumerism - they will dismiss us as religious and turn against us.

(7,638 posts)I don't think we have to worry about people dismissing this as a religious cause. Kamala attended this church during her campaign. I see it as the black church going back to its roots to fight for civil rights. The way MLK did.

We aren't really - we are moving, spending, community building with intent.
