To be honest, I didnt do too well on the breadmaking task, either .

(13,380 posts)4. I adopted a 10 year old cat whose former owner had obviously put a lot of
work into training him. He didnt jump up on anything unless he was first picked up and put there. He knew and obeyed - about 80% of the time - the verbal and hand signal commands for stay and come. Stay was especially useful. I could keep him out of a room by giving the command and he would sit in the entrance to the room.
After I saw him do this, I felt stupid for never having tried to teach any of my prior cats to stay and come, but the vet said that in 22 years she had never before encountered a cat who obeyed those commands.
