(1,230 posts)Arent we lucky to enjoy and know and love these cats vicariously, as Siwsan shares so generously? I love the continuing saga of Siwsan & the KitCats!
My husband and I had several cats when we were younger, then a couple of barn cats, but no cats inside since my daughter was born 30+ years ago. Shes more allergic to cats than I am, but not to dogs, so we manage.
I have my dear bulldog,Molly, good Golly! And 2 spoiled but not rotten grand-dogs
And a yard full of birds and chipmunks and squirrels and the occasional deer.
And Siwsan & the KitCats to virtually scratch that feline itch. Pretty sweet.

(1,156 posts)But yes, I also, had cats when I was younger, allergic or not. And that cat had kittens. And that is the best thing in the world. Oh we had fun with those babies. As much as I would love to bury my face in their fur and kiss them all over, I am more of a dog person. We are lucky to have two of those.
This is Booger.

(1,156 posts)I take those meds daily too. So it wouldn't kill me. But I can't touch my face until I've washed my hands.

(25,246 posts)did not believe it because I have always had a cat as an adult and had a couple cats as a child.
I discovered that it's not the fur or dander that I am allergic to. It's the saliva, and only if it's on an open break in my skin. So cat scratches sometimes swell up on me if they draw blood, because there is saliva on the cat's claws from when she licks her paws. I wash the scratch, put peroxide on it, and take an antihistamine. That clears it up.
The reactions have become milder as I've aged, not really a problem.

(72,440 posts)...the kitty on the left. We lost "Bennetti" a good 10 years ago.
She was a fun kitty.
The pic brought back some nice memories.
