President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will attend the 51st Summit of the G7—the group of the world’s seven leading industrialized nations—on Tuesday (Jun. 17) in Canada.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, energy security is expected to be one of the central topics of discussion among member countries and invited nations, such as Brazil.

Ambassador Mauricio Lyrio, Secretary of State for Climate, Energy, and the Environment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated the focus will be on technology and innovation, diversification and feasibility of critical mineral production chains, infrastructure, and investments.

The Brazilian diplomat sees the meeting as an opportunity to advance issues on the agenda of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), to be held in November in Belém, Brazil.
