Two idiots in Arkansas took turns putting on a bullet proof vest and shooting each otherAs detailed in a probable cause affidavit, Charles Ferris, 50, and Christopher Hicks, 36, were drinking Sunday night on the back deck of Ferriss residence when they came up the bright idea to shoot themselves.
Ferris, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, told Hicks to shoot him, according to the affidavit. Hicks obliged, firing a single round from a .22 caliber rifle into Ferriss chest. While the vest stopped the bullet, Ferris was left with a painful welt on his chest.
Hicks then donned the vest.
Ferris, who would later tell cops that he was pissed about being shot, confessed that he unloaded the clip into Hickss back. None of the five rounds penetrated the protective vest, investigators noted, but Hicks was bruised from them hitting him.

(109,347 posts)1. Idiots... Maybe it was when kevlar vests first came out, but I seem to recall several deaths from
bullets that somehow ended up hitting in the armpit area.
Nothing is fool-proof as this so aptly illustrates.

(49,445 posts)3. There are ways to test this without actually wearing the vest
Typically, they test them over a slab of clay so they can see how big the impact dent is.
