I received an email from NerdWallet saying someone has logged into my account using my IP Address
I don't think I even have NerdWallet-- is this a scam? Or should I take it seriously?
Any advice would be welcome.
Thank you,

(28,812 posts)I get emails all the time about someone logging into an account with some outfit I've never dealt with.
Look at the email address if it doesn't say @nerdwallet report it to your email provider as phishing.
I got one yesterday claiming I had had $6 million deposited it an account at the U.N. for "recovery funds". All they needed was every bit of personal information they could get including a bank account #. Clearly this was a scam from the first sentence and the email was "@hotmail.com" Yeah, I'm sure the U.N. uses hotmail.
I've also been inundated with scam emails supposedly from Geek Squad, not of them have a Geek Squad email.

I just wouldn't respond to anything scammers ask for, disguised as banks, credit cards...just always go to the direct website, no links, and call if you think it might be really your bank reaching out.

(33,643 posts)Everyone knows your IP. That doesn't mean they know ailsagirl owns it, but everywhere you've been to 'out there' , knows that address. And you expect a LOT of outfits know the email that goes with that IP.
