'Everyone has the right to equal justice under the law': Why Judge Chris Taylor (D) is running for state Supreme Court

MADISON, Wis. — The spring election is around the corner, and one race that could have a lasting impact is for a seat on the state Supreme Court.....

District IV Appeals Court Judge Chris Taylor is a wife, mother of two, former member of the State Assembly, and has served as a judge since 2020.

We asked each candidate about their judicial philosophy....

“The first is equal justice for everyone; everyone has the right to equal justice under the law. The second is that the rule of law applies to everybody; you don’t get a pass because you’re privileged and you’re powerful, the rule of law applies to everyone,” Taylor said. “The third principle is that judges have to be independent. We are the independent branch of government. It’s up to us to make sure that people’s rights and freedoms are respected.”
