Wisconsin Democrats elect Devin Remiker as next state party chair

Wisconsin Democrats have picked a new leader to replace outgoing chair Ben Wikler, who is credited with transforming the Democratic Party of Wisconsin into a fundraising juggernaut.

At the Democrats’ state convention in Wisconsin Dells on Sunday, party activists elected former Democratic Party of Wisconsin Executive Director Devin Remiker to a two-year term as chair. He defeated La Crosse County Democratic Party Chair William Garcia and Democratic consultant Joe Zepecki.

When Remiker’s victory was announced, the convention hall erupted with cheers. He took the stage alongside Garcia and Zepecki and told delegates it’s time to “hit the gas” heading into the November 2026 midterm elections.

“The Democratic Party of Wisconsin works,” Remiker said. “We take on the big fights and we win. And at this moment, every second counts. We’ve got to get back to work. We are just 18 months away from a trifecta.”
