Citing internal polling, Tim Eyman publicly urges Brian Heywood to wait until 2027 to force a vote on million dollar

earners tax.

It would be a big mistake for Washington’s right wing to try to force a statewide vote on the state’s new million dollar earners tax in the November 2026 midterm election.

That’s what disgraced former initiative promoter Tim Eyman is telling fellow Republicans in the wake of the Supreme Court’s inevitable ruling against Brian Heywood’s attempt to subject Senate Bill 6346 to a referendum, despite the legislation plainly and appropriately invoking a constitutional clause that exempts it from the referendum power.

While expressing admiration for his successor Brian Heywood, the right wing mega-millionaire who has replaced Eyman as the Washington State Republican Party’s “initiative guy,” and voicing confidence he’ll make the right decision as to timing and strategy, Eyman is openly lobbying Heywood to target the 2027 ballot rather than the 2026 ballot for a repeal effort, which would take the form of an initiative.

Said Eyman:

Because of today’s court ruling, a referendum is now off the table.

Sounds like Eyman wants to get back on the grift.
