New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani have more in common than people think: overlapping support. Mamdani exceeded expectations in a likely primary win against former Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Given their shared appeal to more moderate Black voters, Cuomo was expected to perform well in the areas Adams won in the 2021 primary. Mamdanis democratic socialist platform is a stark departure from Adams centrist approach, yet the Queens lawmaker did well in some neighborhoods down to individual election districts that Adams dominated in 2021. With the scandal-scarred mayor running as an independent in November, will these neighborhoods stand by Mamdani in the general election, or will Adams win them back?

(5,194 posts)We were forced into voting for him, otherwise we would have had Sliwa (R) who is a certified Nazi and nut job. Many voted for Adams holding their nose.

(1,388 posts)The idea that actually helping regular people is a losing platform is a ridiculous stance, based on nothing more than "SOCIALISMS!!!" That idea is why we are where we are today.
Time to put the People first and positioning (by consultants) last.
