Date set for special election to replace ex-trooper, mayor convicted of vehicular homicide

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The date for a special election to replace a former mayor convicted of vehicular homicide has been set.

Residents of Buchanan will head to the polls March 17 to decide on a new mayor.

Interim Mayor Steve Holcombe will face Jacob Byrd.

Holcombe has been interim mayor since former mayor and former state trooper A.J. Scott was convicted of second-degree vehicular homicide and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
