To anyone who might be impacted by these wildfires, please stay safe.

I'm praying for the winds to calm and temps to drop but it's not looking good. The Aspen Acres fire looks especially fast moving . At 74,000 acres it's a monster.

I live in the SW corner of Colorado and have been through several fires. My heart is breaking for you.

plenty of times in the past. Never gets less depressing, though. I will say the fires do make for some incredibly intense sunrises (and occasionally sunsets as well).

While I should not be, the past two weeks, I've been shocked at how rarely anywhere west of the Mississippi River gets mentioned, weather-wise--especially given the storms and now major heat of the East Coast. Snowstorms get mentioned only from the standpoint of closing down connecting airports or if tornadoes hit Texas and Oklahoma. But reporting beyond that is comparatively underrepresented. Oh, well..

Stay safe, all (and yes, that absolutely DOES include everyone EAST of the Mississippi River as well).

I know anything about it because I have friends and family in almost every one of those states.

And even way over here, we have air quality alerts for smoke... along with the heat.

I hope they have all the support they need and more.

Do we still send and welcome firefighters volunteering from our neighbor countries? They helped us so much in the past. I hope the unpleasantness hasnʻt paused that much needed help.
