Saw my first live baseball game in 55 years recently, on August 12th, 2025. HAD A BLAST!!!!

Last one was senior year high school playing second base in 1970. Quick flash to now finds me aging half-way gracefully, living thirty minutes from Avista Stadium in Spokane, WA. My wife and I were given two tickets from a friend to last Tuesday night's contest between the Spokane Indians and Vancouver Canucks. Class A Minor League. Spokane is affiliated with the Colorado Rockies.
Bottom line: Vancouver 10 to Spokane's 2. But fun taking pictures of the game. Like these:
Vancouver base runner's attempted steal of second. Goes into his slide.

Gonna be close

Catcher's perfect throw to second beats runner and he's out!

Later on: Canuck on first. Long fly to right. Runner poised on the bag to tag up and split. Close play in the outfield, runner cannot take a lead. Right fielder can't quite reach the fly ball now on the ground. It gets by him. Runner takes off touches second glancing at third base coach who waves him on. Runner reaches back for a burst of speed. Unbeknownst to him right fielder recovered nicely, set his feet and threw a rocket to shortstop who whirled whipped the ball to third. Ump's call? "YER OUT."

Reminded me of this…

As a kid, I was a “Little Angel” + could watch the abysmal California Angels play for a quarter… We’d ride over on our bikes… past the Autry car w/ the longhorns mounted on the front… + spend an hour or so heckling the players as we goofed behind the dugout… eating a hot dog in the summer sun… For a major league team, the Angels were once majorly awful… but we didn’t care… we kids pretty much had the ball park to ourselves…

And thank for the captions so we know what’s going on! I love minor league games - they are affordable and many times you can get great seats for cheap! How did Laurie like the game?

We were a farm team for Kansas City for a while. I don’t know who they are now. But I loved shooting pictures of them when I worked at the paper because they were so laid-back. I could stand almost anywhere. A lot of good baseball and occasionally we would see a major league player on a rehab assignment. Good job at the ballpark!
