I think the cut on the album is same recording which is used in this lip-synced video.
My favorite part of the recording is the thirty-second bridge which begins at the one-and-a-half minute mark and which contains the beautiful chord change.

infinitely prefer it to the Doors version.
The difference to me lies in the fact that in this putative love song, Jose actually
sounds like a lover, whereas Jim sounds like a thug 'beckoning' from a dark alley.

all but condemn Jose Feliciano for daring to mess with Jim Morrison's original work of 'genius'.
As to the humanity of each, I don't think we can speak of it in terms of the actusl artists, but more, perhaps to the "type" reflected in the song.
