(9,729 posts)Stephen Colbert occasionally has a segment on his show called 'the Colbert Questionnaire'. He asks stars a standard set of questions. One of the questions is "if you had to listen to one song the rest of your life, what would it be?" With the caveat you don't have to listen to it constantly, but when you listen to music it would be this song. I don't know if it would be this one but definitely something by Steely Dan. Thanks for posting. 👋

(72,432 posts)Nice how whomever is playing that killer lead (Is Harrington still in the band?) evokes parts of what Carlton did, especially the start of the closing lead.
The whole band is monster.

(6,186 posts)Yes, it's evocative of Larry Carlton's iconic solo from The Royal Scam album. I recently watched a 2021 video of Carlton talking about and then playing the solo with a live band. He said that he usually "killed the solo" while on tour with Steely Dan--until a notable show in Los Angeles. "I didn't kill it (that night) ... The next morning in the L.A. Times, in the Gallery section: CARLTON BLOWS FAMOUS SOLO." Herington makes it his own.
