I bought a paper pattern for a Mrs. Hall (All Creatures) apron off the internet

Turns out it actually does come from England. It's a little expensive, but also includes other garments. My regular chef-type aprons keep exposing everything above the armpits to grease spatters, and this gives more coverage. I have some vintage-look fabric that should suit the pattern perfectly.

Tracking it, it seems it's going to be stuck in Chicago going through Customs for 3 days. Apparently, nobody there sews - it's an apron pattern, not military secrets. They need to talk to their mothers (ok, their grandmothers). Maybe they could translate.

I really hope it isn't in metric - that could be the final straw.

My mom, aunts, and grandmothers wore those aprons. I'd love to make one for myself. Please share a photo when you're finished making it.

Probably young people have never seen paper patterns used in sewing.
They have no idea what they are. Maybe plans for secret submarines or something.

If it is in metric there are online converters that will help you.

Back in the day, we didn't get out of school without being able to do the conversions in our heads. And metric makes any math so much easier.

I use paper patterns exclusively, along with tracing paper. The adapted pattern, with all its changes, gets traced out and that's the paper that gets cut. The original pattern stays pristine and can be used over and over, even for people of different sizes. I've got quite a collection of uncut Kwik Sew and Folkwear.

I'd read here on DU that Germany is indefinitely suspending all shipments to US I think over $800 because of new customs rules.

Wait till people cannot get high quality car parts!

My gs had ordered some Bilstein struts & they were originally scheduled to arrive by around Apr 19. Now the order says they will ship by May 30. I'm sure that is just a way for retailer to hold his money indefinitely. Of course, no reason was provided to the consumer regarding the lengthy delay.

I hope you get your pattern & love it!

I posted them for sale for $25 & have never sold something so fast or gotten so many responses. I was kind of surprised. I didn't think people still sewed much anymore.
