What are your plans for New Year's Eve?

I'll do as I normally do. I'll be at home either reading or watching TV. I rarely celebrate any holidays because I don't care for crowds. Also, there will be more people driving under the influence and I don't want to be the victim of another person's stupidity.

2. I used to faithfully watch sci fi channel's

Twilight Zone marathon. Now, with streaming, I'll start from Episode 1 and let her rip. Maybe make some food. Nothing spectacular. I did all of the crazy New Year stuff in my youth. No need to try to recapture.

3. The usual: losing sleep on account of assholes with fireworks. (nt)

4. Huge party at the Golden Nugget casino. Right now

we're thinking about going. With covid, flu, not sure I want to be around a lot of people though.

5. Picking out which pair of loungers to wear to the living room

I'm going to attempt to drug myself with Benadryl fairly early as well.


Last year some asshole set off class 4 fireworks at midnight and woke me up. I couldn't get back to sleep at all. I care give for the elderly for my job and so that day was hell for me because I severely lacked sleep.



Some of us work on holidays but neighboring people don't care. I hope the weather is crappy and cold outside on New Year's Eve to prevent these idiots from shooting off fireworks.

This West Coaster will ring in the New Year with East Coasters.

7. We don't drive in Texas on NYE ever, or St Paddy's or Halloween if it's on a weekend. ...

... Lobster tails, scallops and a small fillet with the last treats before starting to lose the 10 pounds Christmas season gave us, at home.

8. We go out for an early dinner, before everyone else hits the road.

We are home early and watch our streaming shows until near midnight. Right now we are on Sar Trek Voyager and the 2nd season of Fallout. We toast before we go to bed. Sometimes we stay up to midnight and watch the ball drop, but not often.

9. Ohio State vs Miami (FL) ...

followed by a film on Netflix.

10. Call It Thursday Night

Between 1977 and 2007, my band played 29 of 31 times on NYE.
The 2 years we didn't have a gig (the bands were too new) we had a band party & played.
For the last 16 years, we played the same club each NYE which was 10 or 12 blocks from our house.
So, we'd throw a party for the band & close friends of the band.
It started at 2:30am.
As you probably surmise, we've done enough on NYE for a lifetime.

11. I will be snug in my bed!

Probably trying to calm my cats because the neighbors are shooting off fireworks. I would include pictures, but can't figure out how to attach them in this setting.

12. Hosting a party.

We should have about 20 people for hors d'oeuvres, drinks, & general merriment. I tolerate Christmas, but love New Year's Eve. It's a time of hope.

13. It's 8:30 and I'm in bed ready to watch the latest Wes Anderson movie.
