(23,713 posts)it's been cutting the cable and no TV. My wife and I did that at the beginning of May. Haven't missed it. Of course it's summer. The true test will come when it's late fall/winter and we don't spend as much time outside.

(10,804 posts)I can't eat gluten at all as I'm sensitive to the specific protein. So this means that anything made with it I can't consume.
Yes, there's a white flour that's gluten free but it has a tons of carbs in it and I don't consume high carb foods.
I keep to Keto and I'm fairly strict with myself with my dietary plan. I also generally fast for 18 hours daily and leave a 6 hour window open for eating. Today my eating window was 4 hours and 23 minutes and I'm fine.
Tomorrow is Saturday and I'll start eating sooner than I normally do just to break up the monotonous routine.
I have tons of food related words in my DU trash can because other people don't understand that I don't want to talk about food related topics 24/7. I guess if people haven't struggled with their weight as an adult they wouldn't get it.
I made Keto Chaffles for the first time this week. Chaffles would be considered a low carb bread for Keto. I'm super excited because I like them and it's totally new food item for me.
I'm thinking about posting these in the Weight Loss/Maintenance group. I just haven't done it yet.

(23,713 posts)while eating with friends and relatives. Some of them have been quite enjoyable. What's not enjoyable at all is the exorbitant prices charged for those food choices. I understand that making them is likely more involved and there's not the same economy of scale that exists for the wider market, but I can't help but feel that there's some gouging going on as well.

(10,804 posts)This gluten free white flour that one can buy is expensive and it's definitely price gouging. I don't really have a choice with being gluten free but I've accepted it.
My almond flour is a one pound bag for almost $7.00. However my almond flour is also low carb besides gluten free.
Not everything needs to be a special overpriced product. I've been making Keto mousse with the main ingredient being blended cottage cheese. These Keto Chaffles that I made this week didn't require anything expensive or special either, just a waffle iron.
I'm also in a 40 pound weight deficit since beginning Keto. I started not long after January 20, 2021. I do struggle with some weight gain in the winter but I think it's common with most people and I always lose it in the summer.
My entire maternal side of my family are all Diabetics. So everyone who is a Diabetic in my family spends money on trying to control their glucose levels with prescribed Diabetes medications. It's a constant struggle for them. I know it's also a struggle for them to eat correctly too. Everyone generally wants sweets and treats.
I figure if there's a chance lowering my weight now, maybe, just maybe it'll be less of a chance that I might get Diabetes later in life.
I most likely won't get that lucky but here I am trying to avoid it with some preventative measures.

(23,713 posts)May there be many delicious but low-calorie, gluten-free treats along the way!

(10,804 posts)It's definitely not an easy journey at times.
