Anthropic and OpenAI CEOs condemn ICE violence, praise Trump
Source: TechCrunch
On a Monday night NBC News segment, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei expressed concern over some of the things weve seen in the last few days, referring to the violence of Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis.

Meanwhile, in an internal Slack message to OpenAI employees that got leaked to the New York Times, Sam Altman said, Whats happening with ICE is going too far.

While Amodei and Altman may be taking something of a stand one in public, the other internally both CEOs couched their statements with praise for President Trump, as well.

Whether these CEOs are doing everything that some among their workforce want them to do remains to be seen. Still, given whats at stake for their companies, even internal and mild-mannered critiques are notable.

Not that notable. Especially since the article points out they've been more critical of Trump.
Altman in particular, since he posted this in 2016, before Trump was elected the first time:

Demagogic hate-mongers lead down terrible paths. It would be particularly embarrassing for us to fall for thiswe are a nation of immigrants, and we know that immigrants built this country (and Trump, of course, is the grandson of immigrants and married to an immigrant).

I take some risk by writing this (even though Ive supported some Republicans in the past), and Ill feel bad if I end up hurting Y Combinator by doing so. I understand why other people in the technology industry arent saying much. In an ordinary election it's reasonable for people in the business world to remain publicly neutral. But this is not an ordinary election.
In the words of Edmund Burke, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." This would be a good time for us alleven Republicans, especially Republican politicians who previously endorsed Trumpto start speaking up.

noun
The inner self of an individual; the soul.
In Jungian psychology.
The unconscious or true inner self of an individual, as opposed to the persona, or outer aspect of the personality.
Nothing about gender.
Ive worked for 45 years in the creative arts with both women and men. I dont understand your post. Please enlighten me. Thanks, in advance.

(77,782 posts)Women have a male part of their psyches called the animus. Men have a feminine part of their psyches called the anima.
A great book on the topic is:
Animus and Anima Paperback May 22, 1998
by Emma Jung
There is, no doubt, a ton of information on C.G. Jung's theories on You Tube. It's the only psychology theoretical orientation that cannot be explained in 5 words or less. LOL
The feminine consciousness is mostly focused on spirituality, cooperation and communication, so for a woman to be successful in the business world, they need a fairly stong animus. Conversely, men are great at business, generally, but for creative and spiritual pursuits, they need to be in touch with their anima, which is often a struggle for a lot of guys. This is not to say business women are masculine or that spiritual, creative, cooperative guys are effemate. It's only that part of their consciousness they need to be in touch with to succeed in those areas, if that makes sense.
Jung was reared by very strict Jesuits, so to escape, he would frequently go up into his attic. He began to whittle and whittled a little figure he ended up calling "Shadow," and his theoretical orientation was born. LOL
Shadow is the part(s) of ourselves we deny, generally because of disapproval from caregivers or society in general.
A simple example is the little child who is excited to get their paws on some crayons and are happily coloring, only to have the caregiver or teacher or whomever constantly telling them "don't color outside the lines."
All kinds of future implications with that mess... LOL
I hope that helps! Please feel free to pm if you wish.
