Trump Directs ICE To Expand Deportations In Democratic-Run Cities

WASHINGTON (AP) President Donald Trump on Sunday directed federal immigration officials to prioritize deportations from Democratic-run cities after large protests have erupted in Los Angeles and other major cities against the Trump administrations immigration policies.
Trump in a social media posting called on ICE officials to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History.
He added that to reach the goal officials must expand efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in Americas largest Cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside.
Trumps declaration comes after weeks of increased enforcement, and after Stephen Miller, White House deputy chief of staff and main architect of Trumps immigration policies, said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers would target at least 3,000 arrests a day, up from about 650 a day during the first five months of Trumps second term.

(5,832 posts)or are they evil from the start... in their very core. I go to the grocery store, and people are so nice and helpful. I'm 4'9" and have a hard time at 69 getting stuff from the 2 or 3 shelf from the top, let alone the top shelf. I used to climb, but I can't do that anymore. People are always offering to get whatever it is I want, or if they see me struggling with a heavy bag, to put it in my car for me. These are just ordinary people, like you and me. You talking about lived experience reminded me of this. I have a neighbor across the street... one of those oddities who voted for trump, but would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He came over with a huge bag of fresh peaches he picked from his own trees for hubs and me.
The energy I felt at the No Kings rally was like that... a warm blanket of security and love... from people you've never met and probably never will again. There's just something really missing from people like trump and those he hand picked for his admin. It's a hole at their very core. And they are truly missing something important out here. I have to believe love will triumph over evil, eventually. Some days... and at points throughout the days... I get so down because I can't do or move the way I used to. And it's so frustrating. But like just now, one of my cats goes racing through the hallway, followed by the horse of a dog prancing behind him, and I have to laugh. These little things... a neighbor helping a neighbor, a stranger in a grocery store, the unconditional love of our "babies"... these are the things to live for. And a kind word in a message reminding one of all this, and how we truly are all in this together. And now I better go finish putting together supper before I start blubbering! (LOL)

(20,820 posts)And yes, the rally felt like a warm blanket of security and love. Also so amazed by the octogenarians who participated in droves. They've been to some rodeos before and all went through Vietnam era. They seem much more savvy than the youngsters who are growing up in a very different world (school shootings/lockdowns, covid, cyber hacks, social media BS, etc.) I hope they turn out big for the mid-terms. It will soon be their world and we need good leaders now and in the next couple decades. Just a restoration to sanity would help. There will be lots to clean up in Aisle 47.
Take care,

Effective today, please hold on all work site enforcement investigations/operations on agriculture (including aquaculture and meat packing plants), restaurants and operating hotels, he wrote in the message.
The email explained that investigations involving human trafficking, money laundering, drug smuggling into these industries are OK. But it said crucially that agents were not to make arrests of non criminal collaterals, a reference to people who are undocumented but who are not known to have committed any other crime.
That was then, this is now.

A Pottstown resident who would give her name only as Kathy Lou paced the sidewalk outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Center City on Sunday morning, waiting to see if her husband would be permitted to leave. It feels a bit off, she said in Spanish, fidgety with anxiety and shivering from the cold.
This was a long way from the joyous surprise of a family barbecue that Kathy Lou and her 12-year-old son had been plotting for Fathers Day. And they were not alone in the predicament. Immigrants across Philadelphia received terse text messages or app notifications on Friday evening, demanding they come to the ICE office on North Eighth Street on Sunday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The notification did not specify a reason for the invitation. But it did include a warning: Failure to report as instructed will be considered a violation. Lawyers and community organizers called the message highly unusual, because of the short notice and the vague time frame. It was unclear how many people received the orders, and how those individuals were selected. A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment on Sunday.
Emma Tuohy, an immigration lawyer and chair of the Philadelphia chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, said one person who already had a deportation order contacted her late Friday after receiving the directive.
(snip)
So I expect the same thing happened yesterday nationwide in the big cities - setting the honey trap.
Thing is, many in the cities are working in the so-called "exempted" hospitality field because most of the big hotels are IN cities (but it probably won't matter because they want to do ethnic cleansing of this country).

It's time for these folks (the organizations and lawyers who support them) to assume the WORST and proceed from there.
I.e., "plan for the worst but hope for the best".

We are seeing the perfect examples of why there is no reasoning with these people. We can only focus on OUR OWN to come out and vote (even with all the hurdles put in front of them). And the problem there is that most people are just trying to live their lives - "politics free" - and every 2 or 4 years we have to keep doing the hair-on-fire begging and I expect they get sick of that too and completely tune out.

I would ask the wives, do you know who you're gonna vote for, not their name, but are you gonna be sure to vote, and know who you are gonna vote for...............Without exception, the Republican wives/mothers would answer: I do the house and kids, he does the money and politics and tells me who to vote for............Sometimes, when I asked a few weeks before the election, and it was a dem wife almost without exception they would say:
I don't know, I think I will watch the candidates commercials and decide after listening to them...............?????????
I usually said that ALL politicians lie in those commercials, and it is better to follow them and learn about what their record is......they would say:
I don't have time for that, I just vote and forget about it until the next election...........pretty well sums it up BRDS......
