It has been a true honor and privilege to serve our city and its citizens over the last 15 years. I have worked diligently with our Mayor and fellow council members to move Albertville toward a stronger and more prosperous future. We have faced and overcome many challenges in that time, and I believe most would agree our city is better off today. Our progress is thanks to a bold vision and an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation focused on serving our citizens and improving our community. The citys financial strength has improved at an incredible pace making it possible for us to invest in development and improvements throughout the city. Our local economy has grown, providing new jobs and more options in retail, dining, and lodging, with more to come.
As we look forward to the future of our city, my priorities for the coming term will be focused on continued retail development to support the new Sand Mountain Marketplace and other key areas; developing a long-term transportation plan for our primary corridors to address increased capacity by forging partnerships with city, county, state and federal leaders; an emphasis on industrial recruitment and expansion to bring higher paying jobs to our citizens and community; a continued attentiveness to ordinance enforcement regarding appearance and property conditions; the expansion of streetscape, sidewalk and road improvements in high traffic, distressed areas to increase property values and encourage redevelopment of blighted properties; improving and expanding recreation facilities, outdoor play and natural areas around the city and county; and updating the citys master plan to manage future progress and ensure Albertvilles growth and prosperity for many years to come. I want to take this opportunity to reaffirm my unwavering commitment to serving Albertville on the city council. While I had previously pursued the position of county chairman, my motivation for doing so was rooted in a deep desire to benefit Albertville and help facilitate its growth and development. Choosing to seek another term on the city council reflects my decision to no longer seek the position of county chairman moving forward. Instead, I will focus exclusively on my role as a council member and work closely with newly appointed Chairman Reed to align our efforts in achieving the priorities that will enhance the prosperity and well-being of our city and county. Together, I am confident that we can forge partnerships, implement impactful initiatives, and ensure a bright future for Albertville.
I truly appreciate the communitys trust and confidence over these last several years and I hope I can count on your continued support for another term serving our incredible city.
