Jennings seeking re-election to Brewton council seat
For nearly five years, David Jennings has served the citizens of District 2 as a Brewton City Councilman and he wants to continue that service. Elected to represent District 2 in 2020, Jennings said the job has been a learning experience that has been a pleasure.
I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the people of the district and Brewton for the last five years, Jennings said. I believe Ive been accessible and present for the people in our community. I am proud of the work the city has done and I want to be able to continue to work to make Brewton the best place to live and work. Jennings said serving as a councilman is a team effort.
Ive enjoyed representing the people of District 2, but Ive enjoyed supporting the efforts for Brewton as a whole, Jennings said. This is a we thing, not a me thing, and I look forward to continuing that work. Jennings said he wants to continue to be available to the people in Brewton to get answers for any questions or issues that may arise. I have returned every call, every text, and have visited with the people in the district, Jennings said. I have been diligent in finding answers or solutions to issues. It hasnt always worked out the way we hoped, but I will always search for answers to questions or concerns of the people. Jennings said serving as a councilman isnt something he takes lightly. I believe public service is a calling, Jennings said. I think I have something to give to the city and I feel led to do it. So, I will continue to give my full attention to all things Brewton.
As of press time Tuesday, no other candidate had qualified for the District 2 Council election. Qualifying ends at the close of business on June 24. In other council positions, two sitting members will face opposition in the August 26 election. Councilor Carrie Brown is being challenged by Greg Fleming in District 1 with Tony Burnham challenging Cheryl Barton for the District 5 seat. No opponents have qualified for the Mayoral position against incumbent Yank Lovelace.
