Please watch this --

This is Mayor Mamdani's address for July 4th.

To my ears, it hit all the bases. And despite me being a big strong guy, it made me well up with tears when he brought up the statue of King George.

It is 10 minutes and a worthy listen. It is optimistic and articulates the proper balance between resistance and hope.

So, I hope you watch this and I hope this brightens your day. It did mine.

You are doing a great disrespect to the noble rock dove. Tough as nails and beautiful in their own way.

First: just the HUGE high-profile job he has now.

Second: how he might continue to serve - from there. Does he have loftier ambitions?

I can see him eventually running for Governor or Senate - he is in his 30s and already demonstrates impeccable political acumen.

I'm going to admit that having a pro-NYC governor of NYS would be interesting to see...
