Microsoft CEO warns AI could hollow out entire industries

Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) CEO Satya Nadella in a 748-word post on X Sunday warned of a future where companies are "ceding value to a few (artificial intelligence) models that eat everything they see."

“If all the value is accrued by only a few models, the political economy will simply not tolerate it,” Nadella wrote. “There is no societal permission for an AI future that hollows out entire industries.”

His comments come as companies like Uber and Amazon have started to question their own use of AI as a measure of productivity — and as public backlash against AI continues to mount.

Nadella drew a parallel to expanding globalization and associated outsourcing.

Once we're prematurely obsoleted, don't expect Gen-X to come back for half price to fix your AI's experience gap. OC375 5 hrs ago #3

That's not the sense he used it, but it is happening. Someone has to pay for AI, or AI companies have little income, and the hundreds of billions they spent developing AI. Hmmm.

We're starting to lose interest in this bullshit, we're leaving early, and we're burning our certifications and lanyards on the way out the door.

Easier ways to make a buck the last 10 years of work. Like quitting and consulting at 4 times salary,...
