Police say 44-year-old arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm, after woman pushed into path of bus

A man suspected of being the "Putney pusher" who appeared to shove a woman into the path of a bus while jogging on Putney Bridge in south-west London has been arrested nine years after the incident.

On Monday, the Metropolitan police force - which had closed the case in 2018 - announced the arrest of a 44-year-old man on suspicion of causing attempted grievous bodily harm.

A spokesperson said: "The arrest relates to an incident on 5 May 2017, where a woman was pushed into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge."

The man, who was reportedly arrested at his home in west London, was taken into police custody, where he remained at lunchtime. The Met spokesperson said inquiries were continuing.

On 15 June 2026, a 44-year-old man was arrested at his home in West London on "suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm" in connection with the attack,[2][6] nine years after the incident, after new information came to light.[10][20] He was also arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A and Class B drugs.[21] The arrest was announced by the Metropolitan Police,[2] and he was bailed later the same day.[22] It has been reported that the suspect is a decorated Army captain who holds a senior role at a bank, and that he has family connections to several prominent European royal houses, including the British monarchy.[20

The rumor mill is saying it is Nicholas Brandram. Who also hit a female bicyclist with his motorcycle but was "unaware" of it.

"Captain Nicholas Brandram, grandson of Princess Katherine of Greece - the last female descendant of Queen Victoria - struck Martha Franklin on Hyde Park Corner on March 6.

Brandram, 31, is a decorated former British Army Captain who has served in Iraq, Bosnia, and Afghanistan.

He crashed his 1948 Harley Davidson into Ms Franklin and then drove off without leaving his details or checking if she was hurt, City of London Magistrates' Court heard.
....
He told magistrates of his glittering military career and added that he was an "upstanding member of society".
