Vice President JD Vance now concedes that it was "boneheaded" of him in 2021 to call Kamala Harris and other Democrats "childless cat ladies."
The admission comes in Vance's forthcoming memoir, "Communion," which is set to be released Tuesday.
"One of the dumbest things I ever said came when I argued that 'childless cat ladies' across the Democrat Party were running our country into the ground," Vance writes in the book, a copy of which was obtained and read by NBC News.
"The comment caused two firestorms: the first when I made it, the second years later during a political campaign," Vance adds. "It was a boneheaded comment, intentionally (and successfully) provocative rather than illuminating."

(4,153 posts)I am NOT saying that I *want* JD Vance as POTUS, not by any stretch! However given ONLY those 2 choices, wherein Trump exits the stage by some means while POTUS, I'd be more joyous that Trump was gone than I'd be worried that Vance is taking over.
I'd still BE worried, mind you, but Trump is more frightening to me, because he is:
a) a demented pathological narcissist who's currently sundowning before our eyes,
b) an abject fucking idiot with ZERO intellectual curiosity about ANYthing, and
c) presiding over a cult, with an emotional hold on enough of the electorate that he can effectively get away w/pretty much anything.
And I don't (yet) have cause to conclude any of those are true of Vance. Take this current example. Trump would never, ever say something like this. He is constitutionally incapable of admitting something he did/said was a mistake. And not only will he not say it, I don't think he's even capable of admitting it to HIMSELF, which is an even worse personal trait. Because he's a pathological narcissist.
Trump needs to be OUT of that office, like NOW, and if the unfortunate side effect is Vance becoming POTUS, I'd settle for that w/o the slightest hesitation. He'd still SUCK, but the alternative is worse, by a significant measure.
MHO, fwiw.

(10,417 posts)It was a stupid comment from a tone-deaf loser with a host of mommy & daddy issues who will say anything to get elected. Some of my best friends are childless cat ladies. Poor sad Sofa King, who can't bear that women have choices in life.

(14,081 posts)I have to admit that I have always felt Vance was saying that any woman without children is a useless eater and spends all their ill-gotten, child-free, extra time dressed in black stirring a steaming cauldron trying cast spells to destroy the elite patriarchy (I would if I could). I have worried myself so gray since this bunch took office that it would take a Fox News sized vat of anchor-man hair dye to cover it up. All along I have just expected that I probably didn't have long to be free since I am on their useless list, but I will be proud to be in such good company in the gulags.
