This will wake people up ?

The Muller report- The overturning of Roe v Wade- George Floyd. Now it’s Renée Good & Alex Pretti., and the midterms. Especially the midterms, surely that will save us.
I am hoping that the democratic leadership is prepared for the republicans to stop at nothing to retain power. Ice at polling places, ballots being confiscated, insurrection act etc. Think of the worst they can do and then prepare for them to do it.
I am being told that my fears are unfounded because the country is too big, but they don’t have to attack our voting system across the entire country. Just in a few states. Will be so very happy to be proven wrong.

I no longer think anybody is "asleep". They're awake. They're making informed choices. And this is what they want. There's no mistake here. No crafty misinformation campaign. This is the America that Americans want. The shift in my thinking is accepting that I've been wrong for a long time. -This- is who we are. It's sad. It's hard to accept. But it may be reality.

Doesn't mean I'll give up on working for a better world. But it does help set more realistic expectations of what "the country" will do going forward.

This maybe who 30% of Americans are, but it is far from a majority. The system as it exists now allows a minority to gain and keep control. It is our responsibility to change that system. Yes, the Republicans will do anything to maintain power. It’s time we stopped fearing them, who are the minority, they start fearing us, the majority. If ICE shows up at polling places, State Police should arrest and detain them. If they try to steal ballots, voters should block their access. If they just make things up, shut the fucking country down with a general strike. Complacency is not an option if we don’t want to end up in camps.

America, even in the out of control Great Depression has always idealized democracy. We may not have gotten to a true democracy but we tried over and over again.

What has stopped us from achieving a strong unassailable democracy? A handful of filthy-rich elite capitalists. They gain their wealth through inheritance mostly, or through special privileges given to only certain classes of people. Then they pull up the latter, sit on their fat wrinkled butts and let their money make more money. They add manipulation by spewing propaganda from every oriface they can buy up and ensure the brainwashing of millions.

They don't need to brainwash every one, just enough people in the right locations to guarantee the death of democracy. This is how out of control capitalism always crushes democracy.

This is what happened in WWII, when Germany was attempting to transition out of feudalism. The filthy-rich who sit around doing nothing but pocketing our national wealth, need you to be focused on something else so they can rob you blind.

It is UnAmerican if you envision a democratic nation.

Pedo Trump and his goons are fascist Nazis and don't want democracy.

Still, too many support him.

Indeed too many still like what he's doing to minorities and immigrants-- a lot of these crazily enough are also immigrants.

Too much cognitive dissonance.

They DID start back then. That's why literally thousands of lawsuits have been filed during that time AND WON by blue states and their AGs and/or governors, by Democratic elected officials at every level of government along with the party itself , and by orgs and individuals who support our causes.

The Democrats are all together ... more or less ... but attracting (or convincing) the independent voters is where we dropped the ball in 2024. This is not to criticize Kamala Harris, not at all. The Party put a monumental task on her back, and then they turned around and blamed her for the failure to get those independent voters.

Our job NOW is to reach out and bring in every non-affiliated voter we can find between now and November 3rd. These are Americans who may never register as Democrats, but that's OK. We need them this year and we cannot do this without them.

In michigan, people voted for trump and a democratic senator. I find that unlikely. Nobody checks the machines to the maximum number of votes any of them have counted. If they check fifty votes on the machine, they think they're done.

We ignore this at our own peril.

You have no idea how effective states audits are (and “forensic statistical analysis” is a made up idea by 2024 election denialists)

While there will be plenty of ratfuckery and chicanery, most of it front loaded via voter suppression laws and gerrymandering, the myth of “strategic interference” in just a few states will not affect the outcome of the Blue Tsunami.

Elections over the past year have shown 2024 Trump +20 districts in places like GA, TX, and FL swinging 15-30 points towards the Dems. In some races, Dems victory would not have been mathematically possible without republicans crossing over to vote Dem.

How is the Trump administration going to identify registered Republicans and independents who are likely to flip, and target them for harassment? (Answer: they can’t, and won’t)

There is another thread on DU reporting how Republican election officials are resisting pressure from the Trump administration to turn over voter records and other information.

Blue states have been doing this already. Many states have wargamed the “worst case” scenarios you fear, and have responded effectively to numerous attempts to interfere with their elections in the past- ask Tina Peters, Rudy Giuliani and so many others who suffered the consequences.

You will be proven wrong.

21. States that resist are threatened by the US Postal Service -- won't deliver ballots if they don't comply
Tue Jun 16, 2026, 09:37 AM

https://www.governing.com/politics/states-brace-for-new-federal-limits-on-mail-voting

One portion of the order demands the postmaster general enact new restrictions on mailed ballots and not transmit ballots from states that refuse to provide the names of absentee voters. The U.S. Postal Service, despite its status as an independent corporation, has put forward a proposal in line with the order to require states to submit lists of voters before mailing ballots.

Now, Homeland Security is responding to another part of the order that requires the creation of lists of voting-age citizens in every state, which the Trump administration calls “state citizenship lists.” State election officials would receive the lists, which they could compare to their voter rolls in a search for noncitizen voters.

Homeland Security’s plans for the citizenship lists came into focus on June 5, when the U.S. Department of Justice filed a notice in federal court that briefly outlines the administration’s plans. The notice describes a two-part effort by Homeland Security and its subsidiary agency, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, to comply with the order.

First, Homeland Security will implement a “State Voter Roll Verification” that allows state election officials to submit their voter rolls to the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements, or SAVE, system.

A good number of people have their head down living their lives. They work hard. They try to be good parents. They are tired. We require people to spend more than a 3rd and up to a half of their day working. I could go on and on.

On top of that, the average person doesn't understand government. Doesn't understand what policy means (including our current president). So many people say they vote for the person not the party. They nullify their own votes.

I write all of this not because I'm disagreeing with you but because I do agree. But I think there are reasons that people are they way they are.

Something I and some others have been screaming about for over a year now.

But, 'wiser heads' know better.

I cannot wait to hear their rhetoric when we are being dragged out of our houses and vehicles during the 'Great Ant-American Purge'.

Call me whatever you want. I am ready to say I was wrong if things don't play out as I fear.

Are you ready to do the same when we are proven correct? Will it matter when we are all sitting in their brand new gulags about to be executed in the name of that orange gibbon? Will these moderates even understand it then?

We are in trouble. It is not just from the current regime. Removing that regime is just the start of what had to be done if we truly want to fix this.

We don't of course, but that is what needs to happen.
