Not many folks getting it yet. Krasnov was going to bomb Iran back to the Stone Age. Open up Hormuz or we will bomb power plants and bridges. We wake up this morning and Krasnov surrendered, gave control of Hormuz to Iran, allowed them to illegally collect tolls.
What happened was Admiral Brad Cooper - the head of CENTCOM. Whiskey Pete suggested (not ordered) that we bomb power plants and bridges and Admiral Brad Cooper said, Fuck No. that ended Krasnov's bombing of civilian targets and left him with the only option of boots on the ground, or in other words, an endless war with many killed Americans.
Thank you Admiral Brad Cooper, it is a good start for the US to refuse to commit war crimes.

(32,411 posts)She had a former general on her show who flat out said that the US will not be bombing bridges and power plants because CENTCOM pushed back on Hegseth.
He said his information was second hand, but it appears to me it was quite accurate.

As to the above, from my understanding, it pretty much happened. Troops on the ground and bombing power ..... nuclear plants was a complete no no, and the ME concur.
But at least the stock market made a "killing".

(2,432 posts)as a result of Israel's actions which will of course cause tit for tat retaliation. The stock market will probably tank tomorrow. Given that the Straits are closed again, the price of oil will go back up tomorrow. Those people riding the crests and troughs will all make bank.

(38,811 posts)which is his standard MO. it doesn't apparently matter that each side agreed to different terms.
alternative 2 is that MFer would have launched a "big" attack on military targets (that had already been attacked) and simply lie about it being "civilization ending".

(10,950 posts)Of course they are not going to reveal that Cooper told them no, unless it leaks somehow. It could have also been a bluff, but I tend to think you are correct. Without competent military leaders we would be at Krasnovs mercy and I dont think he knows the meaning of the word.
