Trump: "I just want to ask -- are the Saudis impressed by the fact that a family has saved $5,000? They're looking like, 'What they hell is $5,000?' Their shoes cost them more than $5,000. But that's the way it goes. We're talking about the real world."

(76,658 posts)Tax rates on working people weren't reduced enough to save a family 5 thousand dollars.
The 10%, 12%, 15%, 20%, & 22% are the same as they were before.
The income allowance only went up 2.8%
So, on $150,000 they are paying taxes on about $850 less income.
22% of that is only $188 a year.
And with inflation at 3% (or worse), who saved $5,000?
It's nit only bizarre to bring in the Saudis, but the statement itself is rooted in fantasy.
