War on Iran may provoke a terrorist attack in US - and that may be the point

War on Iran may provoke a terrorist attack in US – and that may be the point

Robert Tait
in Washington

‘Of course there’s going to be retaliation,’ says one expert. ‘It may be that this is what Trump’s interested in’

(Guardian) For decades, the US and its allies have painted Iran as the world’s biggest sponsor of state terrorism – invoking its Islamic rulers’ supposed revolutionary fanaticism and determined support for militant proxies.

Now a long-standing but mainly latent threat is coalescing, with the war waged on the country by the US and Israel, to raise the risk of an attack on American soil to levels unseen since the murderous al-Qaida assaults of 11 September 2001, experts say.

In an election year, opponents of Donald Trump are warning that such an event could rebound to his advantage – providing him with a pretext to crack down on critics by declaring a state of emergency or even cancelling November’s congressional midterm elections.

....(snip)....

Writing on Substack, the historian Timothy Snyder warned that a terrorist attack could work in Trump’s favor and might even explain his reasoning for launching the military action.

“A purpose of the war on Iran might well be to provoke a terrorist attack inside the United States,” Snyder wrote. “This would provide Donald Trump with a pretext to try to cancel or ‘federalize’ the coming congressional elections. ..............(more)

Whether by foreign agents, by internal freedom lovers, or if necessary by their own brown-shirts.

of we, the People, retaliating against them that they had to move to continually guarded facilities. I say if they want that security, move them into one of the concentration camps the admin is building. Chain link, barbed wire cages are perfectly okay for babies, children, and old people... they ought to be "Just right" for the administration big wigs...!

...my biggest fear is that they are not just hoping it will happen but rather that they are leaving the door open to make sure it happens i.e. folks that should be protecting us will look the other way and let it happen.

it will have been planned at Mar-a-Lago and we will hear an endless "rally 'round the flag" from the media afterward.

I don't doubt they're engineering something so horrible that the American people will, again, react instead of act. And when we react, we always go to the bitter edge of hostility and cruelty. R's know no other way, nor do they want to find another way to do it. They live on people's fear and rage. And it has worked so well for them... they managed a slow but paced coup here in the US, grabbed another sovereign nation, Venezuela... they're looking seriously at Canada and Greenland and Cuba and who knows where else. Not since Nazi Germany has a country been so dangerous to the world around them, IMO.

However, he is a psychopath surrounded by some smarter psychopaths and some of them may have suggested it. So, he wouldn't necessarily oppose it. The caveat being that they would have to make him believe it was originally his idea.

Considering that he's a weak minded evil man, it would probably be easy to do that.
