Now hear this!

Studies by the conservative Heritage Foundation and the progressive Brennan Center have both found the incidence of proven noncitizen voting is below 0.0001%.

Voter fraud is the right’s fabricated excuse for making it harder for you to vote.

That is all.

The Heritage Foundation: Only 99 Cases of Noncitizen Voting Since 1982

Enter the SAVE America Act: a nationwide voter suppression system disguised as “election security.” It introduces new documentation requirements for a law that has existed for decades.

A Trojan Horse to Nationalize Elections

"Over the last decade, Donald Trump and Republican leaders have doubled down on the conspiracy theory that large numbers of noncitizens are voting. They have used this fabricated threat to justify increasingly harsh voting restrictions.

They claim that noncitizens are flooding voter rolls, illegally swinging elections to favor Democrats—and that the only “solution” is to require proof of citizenship. The data tells a very different story.

-snip

"But one of the most concerning features is how deeply the SAVE Act embeds immigration and homeland security agencies into the voting process. DHS becomes a central gatekeeper of voter eligibility. Data sharing is normalized. Flagged voters may trigger removal investigations.

Voting—a core constitutional right—becomes entangled with federal surveillance systems never designed for election administration."

This is seriously nefarious, vile, villainous and just generally phucked up!
We need to rid ourselves of this evil administration of criminals...
It can't happen soon enough!

That is negligible. From a risk management perspective, this is an extremely poor investment in reducing that risk further. It happens so rarely and doesn't have as bad of consequences as other issues, like voter suppression, voter repression, and fraud propagated by citizens united.

it is easy to fraudently vote because Fox "News" and their ilk say it's rampant. And they try voting twice and get caught. So it's possible a total of 160 people across the full country commit fraud.

The point is that proven fraud is on the order of a part per million. Possible 0.1 per million votes up to 2 per million votes.

When a percentage is written that small, it's easier to translate it to parts per million or use scientific notation. The point is, that fraud rate is effectively 0.

They just want fewer people to vote, because that is when they're more likely to win.

Scroll down to:

Federalizing Voter Surveillance

To enforce the new requirements, the SAVE Act creates a national voter verification system that relies on federal surveillance databases.
States would be required to routinely cross-check voter rolls against records held by DHS, SSA, and other federal agencies.

This is nationalization and surveillance.

As I posted in another thread: once Dems are back in control, that is one thing that needs to be enshrined as a basic right: the right to vote. And it shall not be impeded in any way.

There not being a constitutional right to vote is BS because the 15th Amendment was all about guaranteeing African-Americans the right to vote, and the 19th Amendment guaranteed the right to vote for women. Because it was assumed that there was already a right to vote for white males.
