Schumer won the negotiation battle with the con

I know many people haven't been pleased with the Senator, he has dissapointed me a few times as well, but this negotiation win is not something to knock him for.

The public at large is against they way the con, Republicans and ICE are operating and the con knows it so he folded. The con folded. Schumer held firm.

The time for Schumer to hold firm was last year.

So many forget that there is so very little we can do when we don't control the House, Senate or White House.

All of this sh*t was on the ballot and nothing will change until people vote in Democrats and vote out Republicans.

Democrats saw what was in the Big Ugly Death Bill last March, they were all set to take a stand to vote against the CR until Democrats got protections for our social safety net. Every House Democrat but one did vote against the CR, but for the CR to pass Schumer had to give his blessing to Democratic Senators to vote for the CR. A minority od Democratic Senators opened the door for the passage of the Big Ugly Death Bill.

Just wait until Dec. 1, 2026 if you think it's bad now, on that date the real pain starts. the serious cuts to our social safety net begin.

We have been hearing that since 1980.

There's just so little we can do.

Somehow that never is the case for Republicans. They relentlessly advance their agenda by any means necessary, no matter their electoral performance. But we never have enough power to do anything, and that is always the fault of the general public.

How can we ever forget that there is so very little we can do when we are told that again and again and again?

Nothing will change until people vote in Democrats? No. That is backward. Elections are an effect of social change, not a cause of social change. Social change is impossible when we keep using the excuse that "there is so little we can do."

Putting all of your eggs in that one basket? The Republicans are stealing the basket. But hey, there's so little we can do.

I am not a practicing believer, but an act of atonement does not wash away accountability in my eyes. Forgiveness may be possible, but forgetting is not going to happen.

A singular good act cannot scrub his recent history in my eyes, he just stopped making it worse for a brief interlude.

LEADING a true revolt and forcing Congress to resume its intended function is a job that is screaming for leadership at the moment. He has been found, his works have been measured and he is incredibly wanting in the final analysis. Unless (or until) REAL reforms are imposed on ICE, this is not a victory, its a delay. I do not offer partial credit on this exam.

ICE unmasked, ICE required to FOLLOW ALL LAWS, ICE out of metropolitan areas that do not request them? THOSE are the smallest possible steps to victory.

Those who are demanding that ICE should be abolished, that won't happen. The votes simply aren't there.

Even incorporating reforms will be difficult. That is what happens when you lose both houses of Congress and the WH.

Even if we were able to get the abolishment of ICE through, the guy in the WH would veto it, which is why the Democrats are approaching in from a point of reforms instead, and even that will be difficult I think.

The loss of both houses and the Executive branch will hurt us for years to come.

and now the Republicans have to come to the table to negotiate ways to rein in ICE and their fascist tactics. And the Republicans know that the public at large wants ICE to be reined in.

and segregated, it would be a great accomplishment.

When did the Senate vote to do this? I thought that Krasnov called his pal Lindley Graham and Lindley put a hold on the vote?

If the Senate ever does vote for this Bill I can assure you that the Freedumb caucus in the House will kill it and demand that the Senate vote on the Bill it already passed and then Schumer will be right back where he was last March.

last March when we demanded that the Senate vote no for the CR until we protected our social safety net?

I remember Schumer went on Chris Hayes right after his blessing and I heard him say with my 2 ears that his strategy was that Krasnov will burn it all down and then we will win elections. In other words, wait Krasnov out.

The House isn't going to pass Schumer's Bill, that is, if Schumer can get it passed. The shutdown will happen and the Magat House will go on TV and declare that they passed a bill to fund the government, the holdup is with Senate Democrats, then Schumer will have to stay strong.
