Queen guitarist Brian May has ruled out touring in the US for the foreseeable future, because of the potential danger it would pose.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the 78-year-old said: America is a dangerous place at the moment, so you have to take that into account.
Its very sad because I feel like Queen grew up in America and we love it, but its not what it was. Everyone is thinking twice about going there at the moment.

(3,896 posts)I had forgotten how great the original members are as musicians and performers.
Lambert did a great job of trying to channel Freddy's energy without doing an impression.
But he is 100 percent correct in his thoughts

(38,350 posts)I don't know what Sir Brian May thinks will happen to the members and crew of Queen if they come to America, but the biggest danger they'll face is entering the US at JFK. They COULD get put back on a plane to the UK (and that used to happen to rock stars decades ago), but it's not likely.
I get why Queen would essentially boycott the US, however.

(18,154 posts)I know that would be my first and foremost thought.
What could happen to the fans attending the concert?

(18,154 posts)Apparently Queen doesn't want to find out. I truly don't believe they would be in danger. They can afford body guards.

(23,774 posts)The parents of a coworker were traveling back to the US after visiting another daughter overseas. This is couple in their 60s from West Michigan, Dutch heritage. Customs pulled them out of line and began questioning them about Trump, they pulled them into a room and seized their phones, then they started questioning them about Facebook memes critical of Trump that they had posted. They held them in this room for several hours without access to a bathroom or food and water. They missed their connecting flight home. They were terrified and the agents were rude and threatening, but finally released them.
This stuff and worse is happening right now. And yes, Queen band members could be interrogated just like this or worse. It's not safe to travel to the US right now, the UK has a travel advisory saying as much.

(14,336 posts)When I visit her in Indiana, we always check out the news of Queen cover bands in all of the surrounding states. Weve seen a bunch and I like them very much because all of these band members play their hearts out trying to do real justice to Queen and especially Freddies memory. So I am very satisfied to get my fix from a cover group. However, I adore Brian, and if you get a chance, read his Instagram posts. He is an amazing person, and he posts almost daily of his travels, of his astronomy work, of his animal and planet earth conservation efforts. Im also quite certain that his safety concerns are for his audiences.
