General Discussion

They are REALLY going to need eloquence and the ability to rally people to service. The government has been gutted of career professionals willing to serve their country and replaced by utter incompetence.
It is going to be a hard sell to convince people to come back and restore the institutions that made us world leaders. I can't speak for everyone but if my life were upended, and I had to go out and get a job in the private sector, I would be pretty hard pressed to return to Federal work when I know 4 years later the next stooge this country elects can just fire everyone again.
We need a "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" to try and rebuild what has been lost, along with a promise to create some sort of legislation to protect Federal workers in the future from termination without (legitimate) cause.

(2,708 posts)We need MORE OF THESE introductions to men and women who MIRROR the ideals this country was founded on. (Not the demagogues and the 'rich elite hangers-on' who now populate Washington and MUCH of the private, monied sector that now control our constitutional republic.)

(2,708 posts)Yes, these are important necessary functions in a society.... but we need ASPIRATION and inspiration to achieve all that is promised in the BILL OF RIGHTS and the Constitution, which begins, "We the people"....not, "We the laborers
Otherwise, it seems 'robotic' and soul-leeching....at least to THIS DU member.

Give social justice and progressives reappropriated ICE money. Mortgage and school loan forbearance/forgiveness, zero interest college loans for their kids. The same healthcare congress gets.
People will be lining up to serve, anyway, in defiance of the racist destruction.

(31,110 posts)Democrats need to think outside the box, don't nominate a politician, nominate a Malcolm Nance-like person, a military person, a prosecutor.
Nominate someone who speaks bluntly not eloquently and we will have a blow out.
Our politicians have failed to hold the Republican criminals to account, nominate a tough son-of-a-bitch who will rally the masses.

Hmm... haven't heard much from the Proud Boys lately. Jan 6ers too. I can think of some dudes who need to be held accountable for crimes.

You have to be an entertainer as well as a politician.
Re-watch A Face in the Crowd with Andy Griffith, Patricia Neal, and Walter Matthau. It explains a lot.
