Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) does not let people decline to be scanned by its new facial recognition app, which the agency uses to verify a persons identity and their immigration status, according to an internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) document obtained by 404 Media. The document also says any face photos taken by the app, called Mobile Fortify, will be stored for 15 years, including those of U.S. citizens.
The document provides new details about the technology behind Mobile Fortify, how the data it collects is processed and stored, and DHSs rationale for using it. On Wednesday 404 Media reported that both ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are scanning peoples faces in the streets to verify citizenship.

(3,742 posts)Which Amendment protects us from such things?
cbabe
(5,820 posts)The Fourth Amendment is the part of the Constitution that gives the answer. According to the Fourth Amendment, the people have a right to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures. This right limits the power of the police to seize and search people, their property, and their homes.
Do you have a judicial warrant?
Am I being detained?
I want a lawyer.
Then shut up.

Does that get stored in a data base or is it just for corroboration?
I know on a cruise you do the same. They take your pic getting off on an island and verify your return.
Has this all become part of the facial recognition data base?
