Neil DeGrasse Tyson uncovers a "deep fake"

We ought to remind ourselves to question practically everything on social media today.

4. Don't care how many deep fake videos I see, I won't believe the world is flat. In fact, on FB, I'd hide all sources

with posts like that.

I do get that fake stuff might influence/misinfluence some people, but most folks can cut through the BS.

are about 30% of the U.S. population. That does make them the minority, but they're the most gullible lot in the face of the (not flat) Earth!

It's the more subtle deepfakes that are going to be a problem.

It's another baffling phenomenon of our times that people spend so much time on that corrupt and dishonest platform.

Even before the punch line I kept asking "what the hell is wrong with his mouth? Too much whitener? It just doesn't go with his face.

If my blind ass can pick it up, there is hope for many of us.

AI isn't perfect. It's not going to fool everyone. It's not going to replace most of us at our jobs, just the jobs that do the most boring shit. It's also not going to be our best friend because AI really can't handle that kind of human complexity, we turn it psychotic. We'll have to put up with bullshit for a while, but eventually it will turn into a useful tool.

Sometimes picking up anomalies we’re not even conscious of. How many times has each of us said ….that just doesn’t look right?

totally flummox AI but the human brain expects them and thrives on them.

I can see AI doing QC, narrowly defined analysis, and ther boring and literally mind numbing tasks better than we can.

I certainly hope China sees the possibilities for QC, it's something their manufacturing seems to lack...a lot. I expect them to use advanced chips and programming to oppress their urban population even more, though, that's where Xi is headed. They're more afraid of their own people and with very good reason, if you know their history.
