It was 20% a year ago. This news of more than doubling import taxes will be damaging to American companies, American consumers, and the American economy. It will be celebrated by investors popping open Champagne and giving us new stock market highs, as Trump claims it is a "12 out of 10" success story.
MAGA will pee their pants with excitement over Trump's deal making skills, and the media will show their utmost respect for the greatest negotiator the world has ever seen. Forget about little details about who is paying, inflation, and pressure on American businesses that rely on Chinese imports. None of that matters in Trump's America!

(378 posts)they call them fees, tolls, or tariffs, but they are still taxes which cash strapped americans cannot afford to pay. the republicans are geniuses at rebranding those things that disturb us, but the pain cannot be eliminated. meanwhile, the uber rich only feel joy as their burden is disappearing faster than government programs designed to help the poor and disadvantaged.
