for some reason we always lived a bit of a distance from the bases, far enough to where most of my classmates were not fellow GI brats

where is DOGE on this waste, fraud and abuse?

It never ends well for them. There are way more of us than there are of them. Even if they do have the military violating their oaths. They always run back to their castle keep. Three hundred million guns in private hands is a powerful thing.
