House Democrats Get Polling Telling Them to Hold Out
October 30, 2025 at 1:31 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard

“With all the talk in the Senate about beginning to find a way out of the shutdown, House Democratic leadership showed polling today to their rank-and-file members in a bid to keep the government closed until they get a deal on Obamacare,” Punchbowl News reports.

“This comes as some states have declared emergencies in an effort to deal with a lapse in SNAP funding, the federal program that helps feed more than 40 million Americans.”

“Molly Murphy, a top Democratic pollster at Impact Research, presented data Thursday that showed voters, by a nearly 2-to-1 margin, endorsed Democrats’ strategy to keep the government closed while they fight for a deal to keep premiums from spiking.”

I'm a 60 something disabled adult living month to month on my SSDI. I stopped at a "big box" grocery and bought 150 cans of soup today and dropped them off at our local in town food bank. Could I afford the 200 bucks? Not really. A little left over from my back disability pay I was saving. But there are things that are more important.

150 cans of soup isn't a lot but I know what its like to be completely food "broke". There were times a few cans of soup were like Filet Mignon to me. I've been on both sides of the middle class curve and when I have, I make room in my wallet to give.

It is so important that people not only have a meal but have access to healthcare. They're 2 of some of the most essential things a decent society should never have to use as the line in the sand. Even though these things are already implied in our Constitution we live in a time where shits lawyered to death and these 2 things need enshrined with specific language into our nation that sacred document so some Alito in the future can't nit pick the shit out of it. These 2 things have been the center of a BS attack by the right for far too long (yes there are others but these two cover parts of ALL of them). If we get power back, these are the types of things we MUST do, we MUST future proof basic human rights from theses fascist fucks.

We can support our party here by helping each other, Thx.

Happy Halloween
